Is it a wild way of life, being a poet?

Oh, I don’t know. If by “wild” you mean on your own, without caring for anyone’s opinion, going on alone …I wrote thousands of poems that were never published. Those that were …well, it’s a pittance. The other originals, thank God, were burned, see, Augusto? These are things I didn’t want anyone to resurrect. And they won’t be resurrected, because they’re destroyed. I’m “wild” in the sense of “alone.” I only wasn’t wild about one thing: before I published my first four books, friends read them and approved. And they were good critics, my friends. To this day I’ve never published anything without severe criticism from friends.
